I think this goes a lot further than Amazon's Kindle... think about if it could do to the Magazine industry what Itunes did to the Music industry.

I agree. It's surprising that the eMagazine industry hasn't yet taken off. Very surprising the eNews industry and eBook industry came first.

interesting article. I agree with most of what it said. However, I still don't see the ipad's value outside of being better than the Kindle...

better than the kindle? iPad's got worse battery life, a display you cannot read from for long periods of time, a book store with almost no titles. Am I missing anything? I also hear that the kindle's 3G is free but I'm not 100% on that fact.

what do you mean by easier to read from?

The Kindle has E-Ink. Don't know anything on the technical side but generally it's less of a strain on the eyes. Compared to the iPad and its LCD with LED back-light.

Ever wonder why people don't read a novel on their netbook? Its because it hurts =[

E-Ink also drastically increases battery life. It only drains battery when the page is turned.

Despite its ease on eyes, E-ink is also useless for everything BUT reading a book, IMHO. Try to do anything else with it (especially the Internet, or even magazines), and it's like you've taken a time warp to 1991 with a black-and-white Powerbook -- only worse. I've owned a Kindle. For shear versatility for doing books PLUS everything else in vivid color, I've already sold my Kindle and am waiting to buy an iPad.
