This is one place where you can easily connect with other people who are interested in the same thing you are... anything you can imagine.

A quick lesson in history

As individuals, we've been having conversations on the web for years. Starting with Usenet, migrating to Yahoo! Groups and forums - our fundamental need to connect with other human beings has fueled much of the growth and adoption of the web.

The truth is, even with recent advancements in technology and trends that have captivated audiences worldwide (social networking and micro-blogging), we haven't made any real advancements in better facilitating conversations between individuals.

We are left with the same old feel, the same lack of organization and the same frustrations that have been complained about for years in the blogosphere.

Okay, keep going...

What about a modern location on the web where people can have conversations on a specific topic with people who are like them? Not quick exchanges - real conversations and dialogues, enriched with all forms of media, between people who share a common bond.

And no, not a chat room! We are headed towards something much bigger.

Sounds good. So, how does Zaang work?

Conversations on Zaang happen in 'Worlds' (those are social gatherings of individuals who come together around a specific topic). Anyone can create a World on anything - you should do so when you want to bring everyone who is interested in a certain topic together (even people you don't know personally).

For example, if you want to have conversations about a particular book you are reading with other readers of the same book, take the initiative and create a World for that book!

Better yet, if you are an insomniac and are up late at night, spend your sleepless nights with other insomniacs in the 'World of Insomnia'. You get the point...

Can't I do that on a forum, Facebook group or Twitter?

Yes and no. It is not our job to convince you that Zaang is the best collaborative destination on the web. Give it a try and see if you find something you cannot do on a forum, Facebook group or Twitter. We believe that you will (obviously).

Who is behind Zaang?

Zaang is a funded startup with offices in Cambridge, MA. We are developing more than just this platform - things that are really exciting. You will hear from us soon.

Anything else?

The current release of Zaang is just a pebble on the beach. We are currently laying the foundation for our 'big idea'.
